- January 2013: Happy New Year, everyone! 24/7 opening at Newton Park is now in operation.

- November 2012: Newton Park Library Roof Works: Thank you for bearing with us during the essential improvement works to the Newton Park Library roof over the last few weeks. There are alternative study seats available in the silent and quiet study rooms on the first floor of the Library above the journals room. Please ask at Library Reception if you need help in locating these.

- October 2012: the music scores and DVDs are now back in place on their new shelving at Newton Park!
- October 2012: interlibrary loans can now be requested online, via the two links on the library homepage.
- October 2012: essential repairs to the main Library roof at Newton Park will cause some noise and disruption over the next few weeks. If you need them, more Quiet and Silent Study spaces are available upstairs in the New Wing.
- October 2012: new fines regime in place from 1 October - overdue 3-week loans will be 25p a day. Week loans and 3-day loans stay the same, 50p a day. Maximum fines are now £7.50 per loan.
- October 2012: the Library now aims to supply e-books to academics by the next working day.
- September 2012: the Music and DVD Rooms will be re-stocked over the weekend 6/7 October.

- May 2012: On Bank Holiday Monday & Tuesday (4th & 5th June) Newton Park library will be open from 9am-5pm, with the foyer and IT suites remaining 24 hours. Sion Hill will be open from 1pm-5pm.

- May 2011: Library Survey 2011 (now closed): tell us what you think about LIS! Students have the option of being entered into a prize draw to win four £25 Amazon vouchers. The closing date for responses is 20th May.
- March 2011 blog post: from 18 April, students and staff will receive journal articles requested through interlibrary loans via email.

- April 2011: 24/7 opening will end at 8 p.m., this Friday, 15 April, and re-start on Monday 9 May.
- Easter 2011: the vacation opening hours are now available.
- January 2011: Newton Park Library foyer is now open on a 24/7 basis during term-time. The newly refurbished foyer now provides some 90 study spaces with full wifi access and issue/return facilities.
- January 2011:The Glass Room, a bookable group study room for students, is now available. The Room is equipped with a large LCD screen for displaying presentations or other work. Bookings will be taken for sessions of one or two hours between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
- November 2010: two new electronic resources now online. In 1937, 500 volunteers agreed to start writing about their everyday lives on the 12th of each month: this amazing archive and more make up Mass Observation Online, an invaluable research tool for a host of subject areas. We have added yet more titles to Periodicals Archive Online: you can now get the full text of nearly 700 journals in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
- Autumn 2010: Following comments in the Library survey about books not coming back when other people had put a hold on them, we are increasing fines on 3-week loans to 20p a day, to a maximum of £10 per item, from Monday 11th October. Fines on week loans and 3-day loans remain at 50p a day, also to a maximum of £10 per item. This is the first time we have increased 3-week loan fines for 10 years! So, don't forget to return or renew your loans on time!
- Autumn 2010: During term 1, Newton Park Library foyer is being refurbished to improve our services and facilities. The Library aims to remain open during the works but, inevitably, there will be noise and disruption in the foyer area. Upon completion of the refurbishment, the ground floor study area and laptop zone will be open 24/7 in term time. Please visit the Library blog for further information.
- November 2010: On Monday 8th November, Sion Hill Library will be closed from 9am to 12 noon for a smoke alarm system test.

- Summer 2010: Coverage of Periodicals Archive Online has been extended from 80 to almost 400 journals covering the arts, humanities and social sciences: this includes the backfiles for Art Journal, Harper's, Sight and Sound, Spectator and many others.

- June 2010: more Eighteenth Century Journals have been added to our collection, featuring periodicals from Chetham's Library, Manchester, and the Brotherton Library, University of Leeds
- June 2010: in May 1842, the Illustrated London News brought out its first issue and featured....the war in Afghanistan! See the whole archive for more interesting events and people from then up until 2003.
- May 2010: After student consultation the Library is now open until 8pm every Sunday during the assessment period.

- May 2009: Extra Green Zone space is now available at Newton Park Library! The space can be found next door to the stationery shop, providing twenty extra study spaces and extra points for laptop use.
- May Bank Holiday Opening: On 4th & 25th of May Newton Park Library will be open with a Library Helper on duty from 9.30 am to 5 pm
- April 2009: RefWorks, an online research management, writing and collaboration tool has now been launched at Bath Spa.

- March 2009: Bath Spa Library welcomes two new Information Managers! Matt Durant (Digital Resources) and Mark de Fleury (School Liaison).
- February 2009: We now have online access to the Burney Newspaper Collection, representing the largest single collection of 17th and 18th century English news media.
- January 2009: More local news! NewsBank now includes the Bath Chronicle from April 2008 onwards. Another addition to our service is the Financial Times from 1998.
- December 2008: Looking for information on contemporary visual arts? Have you tried a-n: the artists information service? Have a look at their Knowledge Bank, interviews with artists or browse back issues of their magazine.
- November 2008: More e-journals now available! The HE community now has access to the Periodicals Online Archive (80 journals from 1891 to 2000 in the arts, humanities and social sciences) and the ACS Legacy Archive (23 journals up to 1995) from the American Chemical Society.

- October 2008: Looking for television or cinema news on a topic? Try the new NewsFilm Online, containing 3,000 hours and around 60,000 stories from the 1910s to the 2000s.
- August 2008: Oxford Music Online now includes the Encyclopedia of Popular Music which covers all genres and periods from 1900 to the present, including jazz, country, folk, rap, reggae, techno, musicals, and world music.
- August 2008: searching for contemporary sources on 19th Century issues? Take a look at our new service - 19th Century UK Periodicals. Series 1 of this new collection particularly concentrates on women & children, humour & satire and sport & leisure.
- 1 August 2008: Athens accounts. Changes to the Athens system mean that your Athens username/password will continue to function but you may start to see alternative login requirements (typically, picking your university from a list) on certain sites. We expect disruption to be minimal but, if you experience problems, please ask Library staff for help.
- Library Re-roofing: Large areas of the library roof and lighting are being replaced over the summer. Disruption of facilities should be minimal, but there will be some unavoidable noise pollution. We hope your studies will not be affected - if you need directing to a quieter area, ask a member of staff.

- February 2008: We now have online access to the House of Commons 20th Century parliamentary papers which complement our existing collection of 18th and 19th century papers.
- February 2008: A number of e-textbooks are being provided free of charge to the HE community for the next couple of years. For us, they are in business and media studies - see our e-book listing, the new titles are in bold.
- January 2008: Three new classical music e-books have been added to our selection.
- December 2007: MarketLine updated. MarketLine offers a comprehensive and unique collection of company, industry, financial, product, country information, research and data extending across every major marketplace and industry.
- October 2007: House of Commons Parliamentary Papers updated. In addition to the 19th century collection, we now have access to the 18th Century Papers, containing documents back to the revolution of 1688, and also a trial of the 20th Century Papers, up to and including the 2003/4 session.
- September 2007: British History Online updated. We now have access to the Premium Content. This comprises the Calendars of State Papers, Domestic, Scotland and Ireland, 1547 to 1704, providing access to a wealth of information for political, social, religious and cultural history.
